Well Skelmersdale have teamed up with the School for Social Entrepreneurs. Finding talent on the doorstep and helping social entrepreneurs reach their full potential.
A social enterprise is an organisation that helps people in need or the environment and makes its own money.
The programme is aiming to identify 12 local people. Ideally they’ll have first-hand experiences of social issues and the ideas and the motivation to tackle them.
Selected applicants will join the Start Up Programme to inspire them to unleash their vision. The 12 month programme will offer 12 months of support including sessions on:
Finance, governance, business planning, marketing and fundraising.
They will hear first-hand from other social entrepreneurs as well as visit local and national social businesses.

The Social Innovators Start Up Programme not only offers critical support in the start-up stage, but also membership of the School for Social Entrepreneurs’ global alumni and ongoing support for a minimum of one year following the launch of the social business.”

Applications will be accepted from anyone age 17 and over.

Two awareness days will also be held at Skelmersdale Library:
- Thursday 9th November, 1-3pm
- Monday 13th November, 5-7pm.
The deadline for applications is 1pm Friday 17th November.
Skelmersdale has an impressive amount of social entrepreneurism with local company Total Reuse being a former graduate of the School of Social Entrepreneurs. We look forward to the Skelmersdale Social Innovators Start Up Programme identifying even more potential.
