Tarleton-based vegetable wholesaler Huntapac Produce is continuing to expand operations and drive forward its sustainability ambitions after securing funding worth more than £800,000 to invest in new machinery, vehicles and green initiatives.
Huntapac, a fourth-generation family-owned business established in 1942, operate a network of farms around the UK. They specialise in growing, packing and distributing carrots and parsnips to the country’s biggest retailers, with 350 of its total 550 workforce employed in Lancashire.

The funding has been provided by Lombard, part of the NatWest Group, and has enabled the company to purchase two new Prinoth Panther dumpers. The machines are the latest technology for high-volume, low ground pressure farming, and will reduce impact on the land and allow growers to harvest crops year-round. In addition to the new dumpers, Huntapac have also invested in hybrid fleet vehicles, installed EV chargers, and fitted LED lighting in its packhouse, based in Preston.

“We have a fantastic history from small beginnings in Lancashire to expanding our network around the UK. While we will always remain a family-orientated business at heart, our ambition is to continue this growth while being mindful of our impact on the natural environment that we rely upon for our operations.”
