A West Lancashire building company has claimed a top industry award for restoring a divided Victorian family home back to its former glory. Lathom Joinery are delighted to have won the North West Medium renovation build of the Master Builder Awards 2021.
The renovated home had been divided into two for decades but has now been converted back into one property, with a full renovation and extension added at the rear.
The owners had been living in one half and then bought the other when it became available. They were keen to see a sympathetic renovation, retaining original features whilst creating a beautiful home for their family.
The builder maintained a strong relationship with the client, helping to adapt the design to meet the requirements of the old building and restore the Victorian home back to its former glory.
The judges said this synthetic restoration project was a remarkable transformation of two properties into one single family home. They noted the way that the builder seamlessly restored the buildings, while maintaining the unique and quirky charm of the period property was impressive. The extension is complimentary to the Victorian building and the original features were not overwhelmed by the more modern new additions.
Lathom Joinery and Construction will now go on to compete for the national UK awards in this category.
