Cinema is returning to Skelmersdale

Star Cinemas, a US franchise which operates screens in California and Arizona, is to open its first UK cinema at The Concourse Shopping Centre in Skelmersdale.

Subject to government restrictions being lifted, the cinema will be ready in August or September 2020 and will be on the ground floor in a bid to further extend the site’s retail and leisure offering. The cinema will also be the first in Skelmersdale since 1982, when the last large screen closed.

Andrew Barrett, retail director at London and Cambridge Properties (LCP), which is bringing the project forward on behalf of the Skelmersdale Limited Partnership, said: “It’s a considerable investment but it is one we are prepared to make to improve the shopping centre, enhance the leisure facilities and boost the local economy.
