Outstanding Senior Care

Outstanding Senior Care

Gail and Robert Godson set up Home Instead Senior Care West Lancashire, a local home care business, six years ago. They have now become the first West Lancashire home care provider to receive a double Outstanding rating, in an award by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), who are the independent regulator of health and social care services in England.

Based in Ormskirk, they were one of the first three adult social care services to be judged Outstanding under the CQC’s then newly introduced Ofsted style inspection regime.

The latest inspection, published this week, reaffirms the outstanding care provided to the company’s clients. The team clearly demonstrated continuous improvement by achieving Outstanding in four of the five key lines of enquiry and good in the fifth.

To date, only 3.3% of domiciliary care service locations in England have received the coveted CQC Outstanding rating.

The latest report, the Inspector said that “people and their relatives consistently praised the effective care delivered by staff” and quoted one client as saying “I don’t think they could be improved upon.”

“We employ the most amazing team who share our vision and values and it is thanks to their professionalism and support that we have been able to achieve this accolade and we would like to dedicate this tremendous achievement to all our current and former employees.
Because the inspectors speak to clients, family members and local health professionals they can see the difference we make to people’s lives. We thank them all for their continued support as we work to change the face of ageing in the local area.”

The Godson’s team’s enthusiasm shines through in the report with the company’s CAREGivers quoted speaking warmly about their clients.

Praised for ‘continuing to be creative and providing support to help integrate people into their local community and combat social isolation’ with many events, community guide, trips and activities organised by the Home Instead team.

Home Instead Senior Care currently delivers quality care to 89 people who are living independently in their own homes. They employ a team of 51 caregivers who are matched to clients based on shared interests and care visits are of a minimum one hour in duration.
