Social Enterprise Futures is a digital conference which takes place between 8th November and 8th December and is for those who believe that changing how we do business is vital to building a fairer, more sustainable world.

The Sewing Rooms is a social enterprise business that trades to tackle social problems, with an aim to improve the health and wellbeing of the communities they work with, as well as improving peoples’ life chances.

Paula will be asking questions to Patrick Grant at the annual Social Enterprise Futures festival on Monday, November 15th at 1:55pm.

Paula said:

“Social Enterprises hold the solution to many of the issues facing society today.

“I will be asking Patrick what motivated him set up his social enterprise Community Clothing CIC.

“I’ve been involved in sewing, textiles and fashion ever since my mum bought me a second-hand sewing machine when I was 14 years old and I decided to redesign my school uniform turning my skirt into a pair of hotpants and my blazer into a bolero jacket. I turned up for school thinking I looked gorgeous! Unfortunately, my headteacher Sister Katherine sent me home to get changed!

“I’ve been disrupting and creating ever since turning my passion into an award-winning social enterprise (The Sewing Rooms) that creates employment for local women.

“I cant wait to meet Patrick and ask him what inspired him into the world of fashion and textiles, as well as hearing all about his passion for sustainable fashion.”
