Skelmersdale- based social enterprise & Skelmersdale Ambassador The Sewing Rooms have joined forces with Selnet Ltd to help deliver an ambitious plan to support new start up and existing businesses in Lancashire to grow over the next two years.
DR!VE
The new, bespoke, stand-alone programme is called DR!VE which aims to provide bespoke support to more than 200 new-start up and existing businesses. Through the delivery of the DR!VE project, The Sewing Rooms will provide support to organisations to help get business moving in West Lancashire and to increase the chances of their business thriving and surviving. This support no cost to individuals as it is funded by the European Development Fund with support from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.
In addition, The Sewing Rooms and Selnet Ltd will be arranging a series of masterclasses with expert speakers to guide participants through common business hurdles such as finance, administration and marketing/social media and business resilience.

Paula Gamester, member of the Skelmersdale Place Board and Maureen Fazal from The Sewing Rooms, who are both qualified business advisors said:
“We’re so pleased to have been part of this successful funding bid and we are here to help get business moving in West Lancashire and help turn good business plans into business for good.
“We will spend up to two days supporting you and your team to increase the chances of your business thriving and surviving. The support on offer could include explaining the basics of business if you’ve decided to work for yourself for the first time, perhaps linking you with potential partners or helping with market research so that an existing business can grow or advise on moving premises and taking on more staff.
“Alternatively, you may need to consider changes to your products and services in the post-Covid world.”
The Sewing Rooms also offer bespoke training workshops and a manufacturing department that makes soft furnishings, accessories and bespoke upholstery for private and corporate clients.
Congratulations to Paula and The Sewing Rooms!
