Following up from their success at the Environmental Awards in April, where they won two awards, Total Reuse are winning again, this time with a Green Apple Environmental Award.
Launched in 1994, the Green Apple Environment Awards have become well established as one of the most popular environmental campaigns in the world. Recognising, rewarding and promoting environmental best practice.
Their winning entry, entitled: ‘If it’s reused it doesn’t need recycling’ encourages individuals and organisation to think differently waste disposal, with reuse as a first option. Each year the company divert over 1 million kilograms of reusable items from landfill. They regularly donate these items to individuals, charities, community groups and good causes throughout the North West.
Through its Tool Shed initiative the company repairs, restores and refurbishes furniture. It also manufactures bespoke items from salvaged and reclaimed materials. Recent commissions have included The Muspratt Garden, at the University of Liverpool, which was created with 100% reused materials.
The team are currently working with a group of Hallam Interior Design students on the Sheffield Hallam University Student Union Bar refurbishment.
“We were really pleased to win this. We competed against more than 500 other nominations in the Green Apple Awards for Environmental Best Practice, and we will be presented with our trophy and certificate at a glittering presentation ceremony in the Houses of Parliament, London on November 6.”

The Green Apple Award success means their winning paper will be published in The Green Book, a leading reference on environmental best practice worldwide. This will mean international companies can follow their example and learn from their achievement.
There is also an opportunity for them to represent England in the Green World Awards 2018. They could also have 100 trees planted in their name as part of the United Nations Billion Trees initiative.
